The Hill family ~ touch of Shultz, Mitchell, and Foley

Good Morning, Everyone!

Since I have been back from Spring Break, my library finally was able to find me
two books I requested; "Old Time Tazewell" and "The Hill Family" books. After
reading both and taking notes from each one of them, I really do wish I could
keep the books! LOL There are more families in the "Old Time Tazewell" that
are related, such as the Mayes family, but that for another research much
further down the road.

Since reading and doing some research, there are a few questions I can not seem
to find by myself. The questions I need help with:

1) Anyone know what the true birthday of Mary or Elizabeth Shultz is?
According to "The Hill Family" book, the oldest child is born in 1815. From
what I know of a possible Miss Shultz, she was born in 1802. Would it be even
possible for someone back then to even consider being married at possibly 12
years old and having children at the age of 13?

2) Since one of the children is being listed as born in 1815, Does anyone have
any marriage for Thomas Hill between 1810 to 1815?

3) The book mentions she died after having the 4th child, since I do not have a
date on one of the children, I do not know when or where "Mary Shultz" died,
only assume it in Grainger County or Claiborne County. Would anyone have a
death date for Mary Shultz after Aug 1820 to 1837?

4) Thomas Hill, again, according to the "The Hill Family", is said to have
remarried after his first wife death, since one of the boys went to live with a
distant cousin of his dad's Benjamin Hill in Georgia and may explain why my
Nancy is showing up living with James and Nancy Royalty Hill in the 1830
Census........ Would anyone have a second marriage for Thomas Hill in either
Grainger or Claiborne County? (could even be in another county close by....)

5) Anyone recognize the name John Mitchell? The other supposedly sister was
said to have married a John Mitchell. Since I have no idea when Mary Jane Hill
was born, I have no idea when she may have been married or where. She could had
been married in Polk County, MO for all I know. So, first, looking to see if
she is still in Tennessee...

6) Anyone ran across any of these names in wills, obits, marriages, etc:
The Children being listed in the book:
a) William R. Hill, born 1815
b) Henry Taylor Hill, born 1818
c) Mary Jane Hill
d) Nancy L. Hill, born Aug 31, 1820
The Parents:
a) Thomas Hill, born 1790 (son of James and Nancy Royalty Hill)
b) Mary Shultz or Elizabeth Shultz or maybe even Mary Elizabeth Shultz
(possibly daughter of Jacob Shultz of Little Sycamore River)
The Possible Son-in-law:
a) John Mitchell (no clue when he was born or who his parents are.... or
if they are even in TN)

As much as I love to just think I found my answer to the mystery in my family, I
can not alone take the book as a fact alone. I really would like to find
something that could prove that what it is saying is true. Most of the family
trees, being listed in the book seem to be correct as far as I can see. But for
Thomas Hill's daughters, it is somewhat vague. For Mary Jane Hill is only
mention she married a John Mitchell. For Nancy Hill, it is only mention she
married _______ Neal. Nothing more is said about either one of them. No
birthdays, children, zilch! For the boys, it does actually go into more
details...

William R. Hill married an Elizabeth aka Betsy. Nothing else is known about
her. Their first child is said to be born in Missouri in 1837. I am assuming
they were married in Tennessee before the family left. It does give a few
children and that he was last known and possibly died in Napa, California.

Henry Taylor Hill married Sarah Foley. This get a little interesting IF and
only IF the book is actually a fact, Henry Taylor Hill married Sarah on Aug 13,
1846 in Polk County, MO. A whole one or possibly two years before Reuben Mason
Hill and Thomas Hill is said to "entered" land in Polk County, MO. Sarah Foley
had a sister name Elizabeth G. Foley, who so happen, according to the book,
married Reuben Mason Hill. It also go into further details on his children and
where he died in Eugene, Lane County, Oregon.

Another interesting fact I have found out recently, I was lucky enough to find a
grandson to a daughter of Spencer and Nancy L. (Hill) Neil.... He is a very
sharp man for someone who is 91 years old. He told his daughter, that his
grandmother was Native Indian, and it came from Nancy Hill Neil's side. He has
been a minister for the Baptist faith since he was 17 years old and from what I
hear from his daughter, he still preaches today from time to time. According to
her, you wouldn't know he was 91 years old by the way he act.

Now another interesting question for me is.......... Were the Hill family from
a Native Indian Tribe? or was it from her mother's side or even Nancy Royalty's
side? For some interesting thoughts, in the 1900 Census for Umatilla County,
two of Spencer and Nancy Hill Neil's children are said to be living on the
Umatilla Indian Reservation. (Samuel B. Neil and his sister, Mary Louise Box)
Their oldest son, William James Neil, came to Umatilla County, OR back in
1869-ish range, (his oldest daughter is born here in 1869) and live here till
his death. (Spencer also show up on this census in 1870 under the household of
his son.) Almost all of Spencer and Nancy's children ended up here at one point
and time; except for two of the daughters. IF... Reuben Mason Hill is Nancy L.
Hill's uncle, he is also found on another Indian Reservation in Washoe, Nevada
on the Pyramid Lake Indian Reservation..... thoughts? He was going to get back
with his daughter later for additional information with more family stories;
both of them had to go to work.

Enough for now, I do apologize for what seem like a short novel. LOL Maybe
someday I should consider doing just that with my findings. It does seem like
whole bunch of people out there that do not know who Nancy L. Hill's parents
are! Ancestry dot com is full of them! Among other many web sites I have
cruise~

Thank You for any help you can offer!
