Has anyone researched the John Jones/Martha Rose family of Cocke County, Tennessee? They appear with six children in the 1900 census for Cocke County, ninth civil district, sheet A7. They also appear in the 1880 census, tenth district, page 4, dwelling 27 – though the entry is faded.
John was born in August, 1856. I’m confident he is the John Jones in dwelling 1406, district 8, page 194 of the 1860 census. If I’m correct, his father was Cyrus Jones Jr. and his mother was Sytha (Odell ?). I believe that Cyrus Jones Jr. is the son of Cyrus and Elizabeth Jones (district 11, dwelling 483, 1850 census).
John followed his brothers Caleb and Ezekiel to Jackson County, Alabama circa 1904. Martha died around that year. I haven’t been able to determine the date of John’s death. I am descended from John and Martha’s youngest son, Wiley.
If anyone has researched this Jones family, the Rutherford Rose/Elizabeth Lane family (Martha Rose’s parents), or the Odells (to confirm or deny that John’s mother was Sytha Odell), please respond.
