Anyone ever heard of Marion Franklin Moore (b. 1857) or George Moore?

I am doing genealogy research on my g-g grandfather, Marion Franklin Moore, born 1857.
It is believed he was born a Hall in Cocke County, yet raised by a Moore family.

The story in the family is that Marion Franklin Moore's father died during the civil war and was
taken in by a Moore family. It is believed his adoptive father's name was George Moore. His
mother's name was Martha.

Does anyone have any tips on finding this information? I've never seen a list of Cocke County
casualties during the civil war.

Any help appreciated.
