Bob,
Sorry is has taken me almost a year to answer your reponse to my request to get in touch with a descendant of Americus Jehu Stokely and Senia Emaline Rossen.
My gg grandparents, George Christian Askew and Sarah Harrison Lusk, were parents of Judith Elmina Askew, who first married Joseph Duckett and when he was killed in the Civil War she married John Huff Stokely and they had Americus Jehu, Dora Estalee, Stephen Alan, and William (???). Dora Estalee and her husband, Melvin McNabb, moved to San Patricio Co TX. I grew up in San Patricio Co TX and heard about the McNabbs all my life. George Christian Askew and Sarah Harrison Lusk came to Burnet Co TX and after the death of John Huff Stokely, Judith Elmina came to Burnet Co to be close to her mother, Sarah Harrison Lusk Askew. I, of course, have heard about the Askews and the Lusks all my life, also.
You may know all this...I am sending this as an introduction. As you see, Judith Elmina is not my direct line, but I have a hard time staying within my direct line and I have a lot of questions to ask. Judith Elmina Askew was a sister to my great grandmother, Sarah Jane Askew who married George Pinkney Morrow. The Morrow family also came to Burnet Co TX and two of their children, one of whom was my grandfather, Joseph Harrison Morrow, came to San Patricio Co and raised their families there.
Hope to hear from you soon and I will not be so long in replying.
Patricia
