Here are a couple of messages to explain my journey:

I think the first one actually began when I found a Pollard household in 1910 with the correct children's names that I knew- John and Arthur. The head of household was a Balsibba or Balzilba.

At that time I didn't know what his name was except the initials BB from the 1920 census when he was living with Brock relatives in Crockett county. There was also an 1880 census with merely the initials BB.

Hi,

It's Jeremy. Here is most if not all of what I have
on Barzillai/Barsilla/Barzillia/Barsil/BB Pollard.

All I had was Balzilba or Balsibba Pollard, a name on
the 1910 census for Madison county TN that I figured
was misspelled since I couldn't find it anywhere else.

When I couldn't find Balzilba/Balsibba I looked in
North Carolina for names around the time he would have
been a child that were close to those. Barsilla and
Barsil Pollard popped up.

After investigating I found out that Barsilla is an
alternate spelling for Barzillai, a name from the
Bible. He is mentioned in 2nd Samuel and 1st Kings.

Then I found a Barzillia Betts Pollard's Civil War
pension application on file at the TN archives. It
says he was living in Crockett county at the time. Our
BB Pollard was living in Crockett around 1880
according to census records. I immediately knew that I
had found him.

Well, this Barsilla and Barsil that I had found lived
in Wake county North Carolina. In 1850 Barsilla's
parents are Joshua, a shoemaker born about 1800 and
Elizabeth, born about 1807. He is four years old.

I've also seen the same at the genealogy.com forums.

The Civil War pension record says he served in th 14th
NC Infantry. I looked it up and found a Barzillia B
Pollard in Company "E". This is the Oak City Guard.
Oak City is Martin county. The Company was made up of
men from different counties though, including Wake.

Co "E", the Oak City Guard

Pollard, Barzillia B., Private

I think I found his mother living in Oak Grove, Wake
county, NC in 1880. Oak Grove is now in Durham county
since they changed the county line in the 1890's I
think.

It looks like Oak Grove, when it was part of Wake
county was where BB grew up.

This last record I have of him is when he was living
with Flora, William B and Aubrey in Alamo, Crockett
county TN in 1920. Flora, my great-aunt, was his
grand-daughter and my grandpa Brock was his grandson.
However, grandpa (John William) was living in Arkansas
at that time in Sydney, Izard county.

Barg?? Pallord
born abt 1846 in NC
White

I think this is Barzillai/Barzillia/Barsilla/B B
Pollard

I knew the first name would be misspelled but had to
figure out that the surname was too. Then what it
might be. Otherwise I would have found him sooner.
Well, not 100% but seems to be him. Will have to make
trip to library to find more evidence in the actual
document.

Just performed another search for Arthur Pallord in
Madison co TN and found everybody:

Authur J Pallord ,
, Madison, Tennessee abt 1895 location White

John L Pallord ,
, Madison, Tennessee abt 1893 Tennessee White

Mainnie Lee Pallord ,
, Madison, Tennessee abt 1897 Tennessee White

Alexander B Pallord ,
, Madison, Tennessee abt 1900 Tennessee White

Lee Anna Pallord ,
Madison, Tennessee abt 1869 Tennessee White

Barg?? Pallord
Madison, Tennessee abt 1846 White

Barg... looks like they mistook a cursive z for a g
and the a and o in Pollard were switched around.

The above searches were done at ancestry.com

Lee Anna (Benthall) was his second wife. His first wife, Francis Bland, who he married in Crockett county, is my ancestor. BB and Fannie married in 1874.

I don't have her parents yet. There were Bland's in the area though. I think there were some in Gibson county.

Oh, it seems that my Barzillai is named for an elder relative- Barzillai Betts. He shows up as a bondsman for several Pollard marriages in the early 19th century in Wake county NC. I don't know the connection between the Betts and Pollard's though.

I even have his marriage record.

As far as my BB he was in Wake in 1850 and 1860, Madison in 1870 (according to a will not the census), Crockett in 1880, Madison in 1900, Madison in 1910, Crockett in 1920. He was living with his grandaughter, my great aunt and her uncle in 1920. He later moved to Arkansas to live with his sons. He died in 1926 in AR.

His daughter Lena or possibly Ellenor, my great grandmother, married my great grandfather Sam Brock in Madison county in 1897.

They show up in Madison in 1900 and Crockett in 1910. Lena died between 1910 and 1913 when Sam and the children show up in Izard county Arkansas. No one knows why they moved to Arkansas.
