Hi I am the administrator for the Friends of Metro Archives website. Some time ago I started a project of abstracting the last will and testaments recorded in Davidson County willbooks. Too many projects and too little time got in the way and the project has been in limbo. If you have copy of a Davidson County will and wish to submit a copy to me via email, I will add an abstract to the will abstract project. You can copy and paste the text into a reply email or you may send as an attached file. If you submit the will transcript as an attached file please save the file in rich text format, (.rtf) I use various computers with different word processing software and will need an rtf file in order to read it. This is a link to an example of what I have in mind. - http://freepages.history.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~nashvillearchives/willabstracts.html The abstract will give name of the testator, date of probate, date written, names of all persons listed in the will; heirs, slaves, friends, witnesses, executors, ect. and relationship to testator. I started out by abstracting original loose wills in the Metro Archives collection but have decided, in order to include all wills, to work with the will books as well. I plan to add a column giving will book and page number where the will was recorded but that is not shown in this example. If you wish to participate, please email me at debiec@gmail.com This will be a long time ongoing project but I am eager to get the data on the web as is in a working format to make it available to researchers. This will be a valuable tool for those researching Davidson County kinfolk. Thanks for your help. Debie Cox Notify Administrator about this message?
