Looking for info and pic of the Red House This is what I have, There is a cemetery, too The home was called the Red House and was an early stage coach stop, located 15 miles south of Decaturville, off Hwy 69, near Bath Springs. The house was built in 1803 of yellow poplar, hand-hwn logs, with chimneys of limestone, one which was intact in 1979. The two story structure had one big room, hallway, kitchen, dining room and back porch, on the ell with smoke house adjoining. Upstairs was one big room with homemade beds nailed to the wall. It is said that a skirmish did occur on Nebo Hill during the Civil War, near Red House, it is reported that a stray bullet hit a man who was working in the field nearby. He was carried to the Red House. His blood stained the wall of the living room and remained there until 1915 when it was painted over. It has been known as the Sparks "Haunted House" People livng there earlier reported that they could hear horses being ungeared in the yard and the gears thrown in the hall and voices outside. It received the name "Red House" because it was painted red. One of the first families to live there were the Samuel Sparks Family, who presumedly built the house.
