Hi--not sure this is much help. In the 1900 census for Decatur TN, there are only 3 SLATERs. John--with wife Emily, children Ely and Bessie. They all appear in 1920 (next door to a family of HAY, and Emily is now called Emma) Mittie, a widow, 45, who is keeping house for Jack WHITE, a widower age 60 and his four children. and Walter C., 24. Walter has a wife, but the census copy is very damaged (in both Ancestry and Heritage Quest) so it's impossible to read the wife's name. Howver, believe it could be Maggie, (and this is just a theory) because in 1920 there is a Maggie SLATER , 30, listed with a 10 year old son, Floyd, in the home of her father, Henry BRITT. I bet that Walter died and Maggie went home. With the exception of Emma, who is John Slater's (living in 1920) wife, doesn't look like any of what you are looking for. If you need the exact census info (page #, birth dates and places) let me know and I will post for you. Happy Hunting! Andrea Notify Administrator about this message?
