Helen, I think we corresponded via genforum ages ago. Isaac Carroll Jones (my gr gr grandad) died in Elk City, Beckham County, Oklahoma. My grandmother Ima Berry Jones who was married to Isaac and Sydney's grandson, Everett, told me when I first began searching that she was 8 months pregnant with my uncle (her oldest) when my grandad received word of his grandfather's death. My grandad wouldn't let her go to funeral because there was too much snow on the ground. Anyway, that led me to his obituary. OBITUARY NOTICE from an Elk City newpaper October 1917 I.C. Jones died suddenly from heart disease, Tuesday afternoon, September 4 at the home of his son A. P. [Anderson Pope] Jones 11 miles southeast of Elk City. He had been walking around apparently in good health just before his demise, not even complaining of feeling ill. Grutitz and Son were called to embalm the body. The funeral service will be conducted by Reverend Treeson and interment made at Ural Cemetery, but at this writing the exact time of funeral is not known. The deceased is grandfather of William Jones of Elk City. He was bornin Warren County, Tennessee January 28, 1833 and was 84 years of age. Either children Survive: A.P.
