Herrin/Mainor

Jefferson Herrin married Nancy Elizabeth Mainor in 1887 Pope County, Illinois. At that time Nancy was 45 and Jefferson lied and said that he would be 65. Actually, he was born closer to 1798. However, NAncy was the daughter of Moses Mainor/Maynor and Nancy Lawson of Dekalb Co., TN. I had pieced together that Shadrack Herrin (Jefferson's father) and Richard Herrin of DeKalb Co. were brothers since both were in 1790 Rowan Co., NC.

Well, since Richard's family also married into the Dekalb Co. Mainors it would appear that Richard and Shadrack were surely closely related. Furthermore the 1840 census shows Moses Mainor as living 9 familes away from Richard Herrin.

The Mainor/Maynard family lived near Edward Herrin in 1770s Wake Co., NC. Edward was the near-certain father of Shadrack Herrin. I submit that Richard's father was Edward Herrin (wife Maryan ) who died in 1813 Spartansburg Dist., SC. Edward had another son, Elijah, who was in 1812 White Co., TN, but moved on to Hall Co., GA then to JAckson Co., Alabama. Shadrack moved on to Pulaski County, KY then to Jackson Co., Alabama.
