I recently received an email from Russ James' son that said Russ had passed away Saturday, March 15, 2008.
This was a shock to me as I am sure it will be to many who have corresponded with him in this and other forums over the past few years ... I knew Russ personally, and he will be missed.
I am taking the liberty to re-post his obit as it was sent to me by his son (other than removing surviving names for privacy reasons):
Russell Bryan James of Erin TN, died March 15, 2008 at St. Thomas Hospital in Nashville, TN. He was born Jan. 3, 1944 in Dallas TX.
He graduated from West End High School in Nashville and attended Vanderbilt University and SMU in Dallas, TX. He had a 31 year career in Human Resources with Southland Life Insurance Co., which is now part of ING international. He served as Vice President and Treasurer of Southland Life and President of the North Texas Personnel Association. After retiring in 1999, he moved to his wife's family farm in Houston County Tennessee where he took on a second career of volunteerism. He was a past President of the Erin Rotary Club and the current President of the Erin Rotary Foundation which administers the Houston County Imagination Library program. He was also a board member of the Houston County Area Chamber of Commerce, Middle Tennessee Workforce Essentials, the Foster Care Review Board, Chairman of
Trinity Hospital Board, and Program Chairman of the Golden Agers Club.
He is survived by his wife of 42 years, a son, a daughter, a sister, and four grandchildren
Funeral services are Tuesday March 18th, 2:00 at Erin (Tennessee) Baptist Church. Burial will be at Restland Cemetery in Dallas TX.
