Major breakthrough on Dempsey's disappearance...Ancestry has posted some of TN's divorce records. It seems that "my" Wm D Sawyer was a bigamist! He and Sally Pomroy were married in Williamson Co. TN in 1857, he left her in 1858 to be w/Sally Cartwright. He and Sally Cartwright were married in 1864, w/no divorce from Sally Pomroy. He left the state as not to be prosecuted for bigamy! (According to the divorce papers filed by Sally#1 in 1869). I've had quite and entertaining afternoon! Notify Administrator about this message?
