Bunny, If you haven't then you might want to read my message post #437, this board, to Randall re: deed records for Fayette County. I don't know in what part of Texas you live but if it's anywhere near Houston then you definately want to visit the Clayton Library (if you haven't done so). It's one of the finest genealogical libraries around and they have quite a bit of Tennessee info and, naturally, a wealth of Texas material. I have spent many, many enjoyable and rewarding hours there. DAVIS and CROSS are pretty common surnames but then again, Fayette/Hardeman Counties were not heavily populated 100-150 years ago.
