JAMES FENTRESS Surveyor of Jamestown TN at its start

Searching for any information on my ancestor James Fentress for whom the county is named. He moved on to Robertson and Montgomery Counties ca 1800. Hoping there is some material locally that is known and I could have copied.I live in CA. Would appreciate greatly and help anyone as I could in Santa Clara Co CA if wanted.
As a 12-yr-old I visited Jamestown with my parents and remember meeting Sgt York, visiting with him and Pastor Pyle. (1930's!)
So imagine my delight at turning up a dining table given to me and seeing MADE IN JAMESTOWN TN on the underside! I won't be giving that away!
Hope there is more on James and perhaps those also searching him. I would like to contact them. Thank you (Mrs.) Robin Fentress Kernan
