Physically locate ancestors property?

Have any of you, my fellow researchers, been able to physically locate a piece of property owned by your ancestors in Gibson COunty? I have been fortunate enough to put enough data together to physically locate a piece of property purchased by my ancestor in 1866. Unfortunately, the most significant properties would have been those owned by my family prior to this date. We cannot find a Gibson County cemetery which holds any of my ancestors, their relations, or their neighbors. I just imagine an entire cemetery with crumbling, overturned stones at the back of some farmer's property. I even found the purchase on one of these stones from a company in Humboldt, so I know that the family did have headstones.

I would appreciate and welcome the input of anyone who might have successfully physically located their ancestor's property, or the input of any of you theorists who would like to offer their suggestions. The deed books seem like the most logical (yet most time consuming) avenue to get the answers that I am after, but time constraints (and the fact that I would have to do the genealogies of my ancestors' neighbors, etc.) have kept our researchers from taking on this mammoth task.

Thanks for all of your assistance
