Hi Linda,
Regarding Sion, there is just a little info on his prior to his death in 1836. He is on the Tax List for Gibson County in 1828 (as Syion) but listed with zero acres. In 1829, he's listed with 196 3/4 acres. In 1830 he's on the census (2M under 5, 2M 5-10, 2M 10-15, 1M 15-20, 1M 40-50, 1F under 5, 1F 5-10, 2F 15-20, 1F 30-40) and on the sheriff's list. On the tax list in 1830 he's listed with 195 2/3 acres. On Sept 6, 1830, he purchased land (Deed of Conveyance from William W Hammond to Sion Boon for 8 acres was acknowledged). On the 1831 tax list he's listed with 218 acres. In 1832 he had 225 1/2 acres. In 1834 S Boon has 235 acres. In 1835 he's listed as LEON or LION (fancy Ss and Ls) on the tax list. There is no Lion or Leon Boon in the area and the district and section is the same as Sion's.
As you can see, if you can get into the Gibson County Library, there's quite a bit more to find. But before he gets to TN, there's nothing. The only thing I've found is a 1820 tax list from Franklin Co, NC, just the listing of the name Sion Boon. We know that the other Sion Boon in the county (married to Gilley Hawkins) moved to GA before 1813, so this one in 1820 has to be our Sion. But I can't get anymore information; there isn't even a census for Franklin Co in 1820. Sigh.
If you ever find out anything on this sucker, let me know. I know he's got to be in the line where the name Sion is repeated in each generation, but we have to find the thread that ties him to it. I'm trying to look in Madison County too, since Benjamin Boon there is most likely a cousin and was a prominent man in the settlement of that county (there's even a Boon Lane in Jackson, TN). Perhaps Sion made a stopover there before going to Gibson County.
