I believe the earliest Roe in this county was James Roe, b. abt 1798 in NC, married to Frances. Do you have any information on his parents? I came across some information that indicates his father MAY be John Roe, who died in Smith Co., TN abt 1847. Would sure like to confirm that. What I know for sure is that John had a son named James who did not live in Smith Co. in 1847.
Other messages indicate there was a Jacob Roe in Gibson Co. in 1835. This could be John's grandson, son of Benjamin. Jacob was in Smith Co. abt 1838 to handle his father's probate. Then he went to Cedar Co., MO by 1850.
