The Gillespie DNA Project seeks direct Gillespie male descendants of JAMES, JEREMIAH and ROBERT GILLESPIE of Madison Co. Alabama from the very early 1800s. JEREMIAH died in Giles Co. TN by 1815. https://www.familytreedna.com/public/GillespieDNAProject You can contact Gillespie DNA Project Administrator directly at lairdkinna@yahoo.com. The DNA signature of these men is unproven and needs to be included in the Gillespie DNA Project. More than one separate and unrelated Gillespie line has already been identified in this area. DNA GROUPS 1, 5 and 13 are know to have resided in this general area of northern Alabama and southern Tennessee at an early date. DNA results have been most useful in identifying the separate lines. There were Gillespie men in Madison Co. Alabama during the early 1800s. The connection between JAMES, JEREMIAH and ROBERT GILLESPIE and other early Alabama Gillespie families is unknown at this time. http://www.co.madison.al.us/mcrc/ Madison Co.
