Just checked the Giles County Cemetery book. There are some Thompsons listed in that cemetery but no John Thomas or his wilfe.
There is:
William F. Son of J. A. and Effie Thompson 23 Dec. 1893 to 17 Feb. 1894
Infant daughter of J. A. and Effie Thomspon 20 Dec. 1894 to 16 Feb 1895.
Effie E. Thomspon wife of J. A. Thomspon 28 Sept 1888(?) to 23 Dec. 1896
Directions to Cemetery From I65 take TN7, take the first turn to the left almost immediately after exiting I65. The cemetery is on the right. This cemetery can be seen from I65
We also checked two nearby cemeteries on the off chance what you needed was listed in them. One just across a fence and another about 1/8 mile futher down TN7
There are ommissions in the book, if you can find someone interested in checking the cemetery in person they might find what you are looking for. The Cemetery is on a steep hlll
