Question about Smith family in Grainger County in 1870

Hello!

I am backtracking a possibly family relation. I would like to see if anyone know the parents or more information on Eli Smith and his wife, Nancy J. Smith. Both born about 1843 (give or take a year); both born in TN with both set of parents showing as being born in TN as well.

In 1870, they are in Grainger County, TN with Rebecca, 5; Dollie, 4; and Thomas L. Smith, 1yr old.

In 1880, they are in Hamblen County, TN. Hamblen County from my understanding form from Grainger/Hawkins County in the 1870ish time frame. Again, they are in the census with Rebecca, 15; Dollie, 12; George, 10, Bascom, 6; Augusta, 3; and newborn Caroline.

There may be a tie in with the Livingston or possibly the Hill family. I would love to talk to someone who may know what the connection could have been to the Hill Family in Grainger/Claiborne County, TN.

Thank You,
Beth Holcomb
