We have recently ran a DNA test for Silas Helton's family that lived in Greene Co. TN. It came back Native American. We are wanting to find any information that we can on the Helton's in that area.
It was a family oral tradition that Daniel Smith Hilton, brother to Silas Helton came back to Greene county and hid out after the Cherokee removal. Any help with this famiy or information where to look would be appreciated.
I would like to know who to contact at the courthouse and if there is anyone there that might be a good contact. Does Greene county have a Genealogy group formed? We are also interested in the Price's and Collins families. They married into the Helton family. Uriah COllins married Nancy Helton and Gardner Price married Ruhama Helton. Thank you for your considerations. I will be visiting Tn this fall and doing research there in Greene Co.
