Allen and Mahala Waites are my 2nd-great grandparents. Mahala was the daughter of John Knight Bradley and Nancy Sabilla Ball. Allen Waites was the son of Allen Waites (Sr.) and Nancy Weems. Mahala not Indian, as far as I know; she married (1) Alfred Daniel Wattenbarger, who died in the early 1860s, possibly in the Civil War. Nancy Weems was the widow of James Jones when she married Allen Waites in 1830. There is an ancestral file on the LDS website that incorrectly states that James and Nancy Jones died on the same day.
Elizabeth Waites 1841-1902 was Elizabeth Beals, wife of Jacob Waites. Jacob was probably a brother of Allen (1843-1911), but it is not proved. George F. Waites remains a mystery. Allen (Sr.) had apparently died before 1850. Hannah Waites, who married Nathan Carter 1857 Greene Co. was likely another child of Allen and Nancy (Weems) Waites, as was a Sarah E. Waites.
