Sally or Sallie Brown-(married name Sally Smith) Georgia Tann adoption

I'm not sure that I'm doing this right...I'm new at this, so here goes...

I'm looking for any information on my Grandmother's family. Our
story is kind of unique. I was placed for adoption in 1978 by my
birthparents. Five years ago, I reunited with them and discovered
that my birthmother's mother was also an adoptee. My Grandmother was
one of the children who's adoption was handled by Georgia Tann of the
Tennessee Children's Home Society. She was born on December 12, 1928
in Hamilton County to a woman who's maiden name was Sallie or Sally
Brown. Sallie(Sally)was born in Falling Water TN but was living in Hixon
(sp?) at the time of her child's birth, with an address listed as 713
Snow. She was 19 or 20 years old at the time of her child's
birth. The father was listed as John Smith, and was 20 years
old. He is listed as a Laborer or mechanic. Sallie and John were
separated, and this appears to be the reason Georgia Tann felt the
child should be taken (stolen). On one paper, the mother's signature
is Mrs. Sally Smith. The child (my grandmother) was named Betty Jo
Brown or Smith. On February 12, 1929 she was taken from Erlanger
Hospital by Georgia or one of her workers. The next day, she was
placed with her adoptive parents.
My grandmother mourned the loss of her family all of her short life.
I am searching for any information on her family because I understand
how she must have felt. Although her parents are gone by now, there
is a family out there that we (my birthmother, uncles, etc) belong
to, and we would love to know who they are. If anyone has any
information, or advice, on how we could find any information on the
Brown on Smith families that I spoke of, PLEASE let me know. I don't
know much about genealogy and how to trace thing's like this, but
there is probably a family out there that has heard the old family
story of how a little girl was taken from them....or perhaps they
were told that their relative (Betty Jo Brown or Smith) died at a
young age (Georgia Tann often told famililes their child had died
when in reality, she had placed them for adoption). Georgia sometimes
changed details to cover her tracks, so if any of this add's up to
anyone out there, please help us out. Thank you so much.
