Have you carefully checked the 1850/60/70/80 Federal Census for Tennessee (not just Hamilton County), including by Soundex, for a Henry Crews born about 1836? Birth place may have been Georgia, not Tennessee--Hamilton County is right on the Georgia line. Especially look at Abraham Crews and family, and Meigs County.
Civil War service records (Union and Confederate) and pension records (Confederate) are readily available, if needed.
