I don't have a middle name or nickname for my Joe. His wife, Martha, was 17 or 18 maybe when she married him. I don't have a marriage certificate because I'm told that was destroyed by fire. She was born in 1854 and I am just guessing that Joe was her age or maybe no more than 10 years older. So roughly he may have been born between 1845 to 1855:-) I believe he was born in KY but don't know which county. Family says his family moved to and stayed in Rosehill, VA. This may be the wrong age for your Joe. This grgrgrandpa of mine was not around much to support his wife and children. In the divorce papers I have, Martha states that he drank and was gone a lot. I have long suspected that he may have had another family across the VA line. He was definitely the black sheep of this family.
