Services are today, August 12 2007, at Jackson Tennessee for Hazel Faye HERRIMAN Long. She was preceded in death by her husband Edward L. LONG. She will be buried in Ridgecrest Cemetery. Hazel Faye was the daughter of Dewey and Hilda Clair (Baker) HERRIMAN. She was born November 5 1926 at Memphis TN. Faye was very active in church work her entire life ranging from Sunday School teacher, church clerk, missions director to a voice in the choir as well as any activity for youth or missions. She was also a member of the RED HAT SOCIETY and attended CAMP BLUEBIRD annually as a cancer survivor to encourage others. She leaves several children, grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren to mourn her and carry on her lineage. Hazel Faye Herriman's father, George Dewey Herriman, was born May 1900 at Hardeman Co TN. His parents were Stephen Columbus Herriman born Dec 7 1871, son of Wiley Frank Herriman born 19 Aug 1849 at Hardeman Co TN and Mary Margaret MILLS born 6 Mar 1849 and died 9 March 1929 at Hardeman Co TN. Dewey's mother was Rebecca Ella ERVIN, daughter of Joseph John ERVIN and Nancy Rebecca MURLEY. Dewey had an older sister born in 1897 named Nancy. A brother born Feb 1898 named Warner A. Herriman. Younger brother Virgil Herriman born ca 1901 married Ruth PIERCE. The next two were daughters called Graple and my husband's mother, Gracie - always called Grace. The youngest child, Woodrow Grady Herriman born 1912. Wiley Frank Herriman's father was Joseph Herriman Jr born 1823 at Warren Co TN and died at Hardeman Co TN on 23 July 1867. Joseph married Louisa Jane HARDY on 10 Nov 1842 at Hardeman Co TN. She was born 1826 in TN and died 1859 at Hardeman Co TN. Joseph Herriman Sr was born 1795 in Ohio and died 12 October 1875 at Hardeman Co TN. He married Sarah Elizabeth HACKNEY. She was born 1785 in Orange Co NC and died after 1850 in Hardeman Co TN. The Herriman and Ervin have lived in Hardeman Co TN over one hundred and fifty years - almost since it first became a county. Hazel Faye Herriman was first cousin of my husband Doug McKee. Another cousin, James Hugh RAGON, is credited with the above research and recording of Herriman and Ervin Family History. We thank him so much for that endeavor.
