Have you checked with Tennessee State Library and Archives? They will do a free search of extant Tennessee marriage records prior to 1861. This includes all counties, not just Hardeman. If you haven't checked this source and want a link, just advise.

PS: I have done a lot of armchair research in Hardeman/Fayette Counties and the surname AMMON/AMMONS is very familar but I just can't place it right now - I think it is on some old documents I obtained such as estate files/deeds....hmmmmmm
