Mary E. Emerson married William Harvey Polk, the youngest son of William Polk, 1786-1843, and his wife Phereby (Pearson?) Polk. William Harvey and Mary E. moved to Corning AR. I have a copy of a letter written to them from her mother, Margaret, who was still living in Hardin County. Have you seen that letter?

Margaret, the 2nd wife of James L. Smith, b. 1806, d. 07 May 1862, shown above, was Margaret Hawk, b. 28 June 1813 and first married to Eli Emerson, b. 08 Nov. 1810, d. 13 Sept. 1838. Eli and Margaret had three children: A son, Josiah Duncan Emerson, b. 18 Mar. 1833, married Rhoda Whitlow in Clay County AR; Mary E. Emerson, b. 25 Sept. 1834, d. 04 Aug. 1892, shown above, who married William Harvey Polk on 23 March 1854. She married 2nd, James M. Stephens in 1872 in clay County AR. Fredonie Jane Emerson, b. 23 Nov. 1836.

Redden Washington Reynolds, 12/25/1829-12/11/1900 was the son of Henry Reynolds and his 2nd or 3rd wife Matilda Smith, the sister of Daniel and James L. Smith. Redden first married Sarah McCarn and 2nd Nancy Kiser.
