Hope I can complete this message before something interrupts my computer - halfway through my last try the screen went blank!
I pay an annual fee for ancestry.com but find it well worth the price since I can search and save records directly to my tree. Free trials are available if you ever want to give it a go. I have purchased affiliated software in order to make a book (my Christmas gift idea) but have yet to try it - I never feel as if I have a complete enough record! Every time I log on I want to keep going.
I found another Smith-McCarn marriage - one of Daniel Newton Smith's sons married a McCarn (sister to Sarah?). Will have to spend more time looking into the connection. That would be the same generation as the one mentioned earlier - Daniel Newton was one of James L Smith's children by Elizabeth Gillis.
