I need to find some bible records and land transfer documents in Hawkins County for the DAR and due to my husband being in the military I am not local. If anyone can locate them I'd greatly appreciate it. Here is the person I'm looking for land records for. Ancestor #: A052677 HAYES, GEORGE Service: NORTH CAROLINA Rank: PRIVATE Birth: 1760 AMHERST CO VIRGINIA Death: 1839 BLEDSOE CO TENNESSEE Service Description: 1) CAPTS ALEXANDER IRVIN & ROBERT BROWN 2) GEN DAVIDSON (I already have his 9 page pension file and his 1830 Hawkins Co census') son: Isham Hayes Born: abt 1803 Wilkes County, NC Bet. 1870 - 1880 Grainger Co, Tennessee (the Grainger archives could not find any death or burial info for Isham, he was living in Grainger Co in the 1850,60 & 70 census but Hawkins in the 1830, no 1840 can be found) Research by Kathryn Hayes Johnson (deceased) notes he is in these 5 land records: I'm mainly looking for the ones that mention Isham Mills. 1. 1812 - Land transfer. George Hays from Isham Mills (Hawkins County, TN, land records - Book 6, page 543) ------------------ 2. 7 December 1814 - Land transfer. James Wilder to George Hays, 2 April 1814 for $500.00 land on War Creek, 100 acres. (S) James (x) Wilder Witnesses: Isham Mills, Dennis Condery, Floyd M. Gangee (Hawkins County, TN, Land Records - Book 3, page 323) ------------------- 3. (R) January 15, 1830 - Land transfer. George Hays to William T. Tate; 10 April 1829, 200 acres, 100 acres on War Creek and second tract of 100 acres. George Hays is in debt $509.67 to E. Hollerd Williams. ------------------- 4. 16 February 1830 - Land transfer. George Hays, Sr. and Alexander Moore, for $1.00, 200 acres and George Hays is in debt. (S) George (x) Hays (Hawkins County, TN, Land Records, Book 4) ------------------- 5. (R) September 28, 18- -, Land Transfer. George Hays to James Cope; 21 March 1832 between George Hays, Sr. and James Cope, $1,000.00, 200 acres plus 100 acres. (S) George (x) Hays Witnesses: Howell Bre-er, James (x) Hays, George (x) Hays, Jr. (Hawkins County, TN, Land Records, Book 14, page 264) ------------------- George had a son named Isham whom he's listed living next door too in the 1830 Hawkins census. I wonder if there is any land record going from George to his son Isham bet maybe 1820-1830? Also: I'm trying to find any death or burial information on Isham Hayes and his wife Louisa Helton. Isham may have died bet 1870-1880 and Louis bet 1880-1890. I know they were now living in Grainger during this time but I'm unsure of the boundary history. More research by Katheryn Johnson says that George Hayes Sr moved to Bledsoe Co and transfered his pension from Hawkins to Bledsoe but Bledsoe county has no documentation on George ever living there. I wonder if he died before he was able to move. I really hope someone can help me here. Sincerely, Lianne Notify Administrator about this message?
