There is no record of this marriage in the marriage records of Hawkins County. There is a war pension file that says that the marriage records of Hawkins County were burned by the Confederate Army at the Civil War, and that a court clerk recovered many of then from the carbonized ashes. So, there are big gaps in the existing records. There may be a record of the marriage in other court records such as Chancery records or perhaps war pension files, but nothing to be had in the actual marriage records. The marriage records of Hawkins County are generally of no use in determining ancestry because they do not name the parents, only the couple's names, and the individual who posted the marriage bond and the JP.
