There doesn't appear to be a free living Jesse in Hawkins County. However, William Tallant was living next to several Lights in the 1830 and 1840 censuses who could be Jesse's father. There is no record of Jesse on the 1836 Tax List either. Perhaps someone has found him in one of the Light deed or court records. There are no deeds that list hims as the conveyor or the conveyee as far as I can tell. There don't appear to be any court records before 1845 that mentions him. He doesn't show up until the 1850 census.
