Holton River and Carter Creek location sought

Hoping someone can help me with a location:

in 1784, John Waddell purchased about 30 acres
on waters of HOLSTON RIVER at and adjacent to the mouth of CARTER CREEK.

The rightful ownership of this land was disputed for the next 16 years in the Washington District court, unless the death of the complainant around March 1800.

Was this in Sullivan County? Part of the case includes an accusation of fraud on the part of the defendant (Robert Patterson) and the surveyor of Sulliva Co, Mr. Donalson.

The suit also involved Hawkins Court...so I'm confused!

Where would this location be today?

Thanks so much.
