I hope someone can help me.
JOHN H. KING (b.ca. 1815, Wilson Co., TN)married 7-9/10-1839, Wilson Co., TN, SARAH ANN CHANDLER (b.ca. 1821, Wilson Co., TN).
He was a son of JOHN WESLEY KING and MARY HANNAH TARVER, both of whom were born in North Carolina and came to Wilson Co., TN, before 1810.
He sold his Wilson Co., land and moved to Henry Co., TN, and was listed in the 1850 census in District 2, household #67. They had four children at that time: MARCUS, age 9; MARY, age 7; LAURA, age 4; and JOHN, age 2.
They moved to McGhee Co., Kansas, and were listed there in household #152, in 1860. Their daughter, MARY, was perhaps the MARY M. KING who married TIMOTHY B. MOODY, 9-2-1857, Henry Co., TN. and they seem to have stayed either in TN or moved after their marriage to Madison Co., MS, where he is said to have died 3-29-1862.
In the 1860 census, JOHN and SARAH listed the following children living with them in KS:
(1) Marcus, age 19
(2) Laura, age 16
(3) John, age 14
(4) Tobias, age 10
(5) Patsey, age 8
(6) George, age 5
(7) Jacob, age 1
All of these were born in TN except Jacob who was born in KS.
The family seems to disappear after that census record. I have found a MARCUS B.KING who was born Jan 1841 in TN, with both parents also born in TN (which would agree with him being son of JOHN and SARAH). He married 1-30-1866, Cass Co., IL, MARGARET H. SPICER (b. 10-1845, TN).
They lived in Cass Co., IL from 1880 until they died: MARCUS dying 2-19-1932 and MARGARET dying 3-17-1928. They had five children:
(1) Jesse (b.ca. 1867, IL)
(2) Dora (b.ca. 1870, IL)
(3) Sarah (b.ca. 1870, IL)
(4) Ada (b.ca. 1875, IL)
(5) Alma (b.ca. 1880, IL)
Does anyone have information on any or all of these persons?
