I have the following deed abstract, and would like to know if the land described here in the "District South of French Broad and Holston" is in Jefferson County or Cocke County. Thomas P. Thornton mentioned in the description is an ancestor of mine.

Jesse Jones Deed to Adam Smelser (Cocke Co.)
8 Dec 1813       6 Feb 1811       84 ½ Acres       $325.00
       In the District South of French Broad and Holston adj. Thomas P. Thornton; being yet due to the Public Treasury on said land the sum of $26.05 which said Adam Smelser has to pay independent of said sum of $325.00. Surveyed 7 Feb 1807. Wit: John Nave; John Slover. /s/ Jesse Jones. September Sessions 1813. Then was the execution to the within deed duly proven duly proven in open court by the oaths of John Nave and John Slover, the witnesses thereto, and recorded. Let it be registered. /s/ Joseph Hamilton, Clerk.
