Hodges/Baxter Family Members Migrating to Watauga County NC

I am trying to find out if any of my Hodges or Baxter ancestors migrated from Eastern Tennessee to Watauga County NC. This part of Watauga is the Mabel/Zionville community.

My Great Grandfather was William Henry Hodges (1841-1927) and his wife was Mary Elizabeth Yarber (1844-1927) They died in Watauga. William Henry Hodges father was most probably William Hodges, possibly from Tennessee.

I am also trying to find out any information on my Great-Grandfather James Solomon Baxter (9/22/1868-3/15/1888)and his ancestors. I have seen two different places for his birth, Watauga County NC or Tennessee. He died in Watauga County. Jim Baxter seemed to be a colorful man who might have gotten into trouble in Tennessee. He supposedly drove a supply wagon between Tennessee and Watauga. And yes, he died at a very young age of pneumonia or typhoid.

Two of my father's siblings lived/died in Mountain City. They were Baxter Hodges and I.G. Hodges. They were sons of Isaac Garfield Hodges, a son of William Henry.
