They are buried anonymously in a cemetery there or at least that is what I was told when I contacted them. There is a website if you type the name in the search block that will come up with some information as to who is buried there.
They have also changed the name of the hospital to Lakeshore Mental Health Institute. When I tried to obtain information about my great grandfather they told me that you had to have a release from a relative. At the time he had one living grandson and I had his Dr to sign papers because my uncle had alzhiemer. I have never heard anything and that has been several years.
My great grandfather did have 1 son still living a couple of years ago, but I haven't heard anything about his death. I suppose I need to try again. I saw posting that there was a lawsuit in the makings to try to get the release of medical records of those that passed away years ago.
It does seem like there was a message board for Eastern State Mental Hospital at one time.
