Cummins McCoy Gower was born about 1827 in TN. He married Mary Ann Harris in 1859, Lawrence County, Tennessee. They had several children and he married again in 1879 to Louisa Garrett. However, he still had a wife. Mary Ann Harris is two counties over in Lincoln County in 1880, saying she is married, and she has a 10 month old son, James Diemer Gower who was born shortly after Cummins' second marriage to Louisa. Also with Mary Ann are two other kids by Cummins. He has their son, John 11 y/o, living with him and Louisa. Mary Ann Harris Gower lived until sometime after 1910. Louisa moved to Lafayette County, MS and was living there in 1910 in the house with her step daughter, Mary E. Gower, daughter of Cummins and his first wife. Also in the house is Louisa's son, Andrew J. Gower. Does anyone know anything about this family? Was there ever a divorce?
