Does anyone have any information as to ANCESTRY and/or DESCENDANTS:
JOHN F. DAVIS, farmer, of Lincoln, Lincoln Co., Tennessee, whose parents, per the 1870 and 1880 Lincoln Co., TN federal census, were both born in the State of Virginia. Was JOHN F. DAVIS any relation to the MORGAN DAVIS clan predominant in this county??????
JOHN F. DAVIS wife was CHLOE LUTITIA (or Letitia) McAFEE, who was daughter of AZARIAH McAFEE. She was known commonly as LUTITIA McAFEE (WAGGONNER) DAVIS. She was born in 1843 Her 1st spouse was GEORGE WAGGONNER, and her 2nd spouse was JOHN F. DAVIS. Her parents were both born in NC.
JOHN F. DAVIS and LUTITIA McAFEE (WAGGONNER) DAVIS' Children, per the 1880 Lincoln Co. TN, federal census were:
GEORGE W. DAVIS, son, age 17, born in TN;
WILLIAM RILEY DAVIS, son, age 12, born in TN;
SARAH E. DAVIS, daughter, age 10, born in TN;
THOMAS R. DAVIS, daughter, age 9, born in TN;
EMILINE DAVIS, daughter, age 7, born in TN;
MARY DAVIS, daughter, age 6, born in TN;
MARTHA DAVIS, daughter, age 6. born in TN;
JOHN E. DAVIS, son, age 4, [born in abt 1876], born in TN;
IVY W. DAVIS, son, age 3 mos., born in TN;
John E. Davis (aka John Edgar Davis) was my great grandfather. He was born on 01/17/1875 in Fayetteville (Lincoln County), Tennessee; died on 07/06/1941 in Taylor (Williamson County), Texas. He was married to KATIE LEE PINKERTON on 07/06/1899 in Fayetteville (Lincoln County), Tennessee (KATIE LEE PINKERTON was born on 05/19/1881 in Fayetteville, Lincoln County, Tennessee; died on 04/08/1960 in Taylor (Williamson County), Texas. Her parents were BROWN PINKERTON and SARAH JANE ARMSTRONG PINKERTON. However, she was raised by a Dr. Lee in Fayetteville, TN.
Brother of JOHN EDGAR DAVIS was SAM W. DAVIS, born 08/19/1883, died on 01/11/1919.
Does anyone know ancestors or descendants of this DAVIS-McAFEE clan of Lincoln Co. TN?
CHLOE LUTITIA McAFEE was one of several children of AZARIAH McAFEE and wife SARAH JANE ASHBY in Lincoln Co., TN. SARAH JANE ASHBY was the daughter of HALIFAX ASHBY, SR. of Lincoln Co., TN.
What happened to LUTITIA??? Did she and JOHN F. DAVIS also divorce, or did she die and that is why she isn't listed on the census with JOHN in 1900? Does anyone know where she is buried?
Her family, while she was growing up, seem to have lived in Molino, Lincoln Co., TN, and later references reflect some residency in nearby Booneville, same county!!
Mormon Church info. includes reference to a JOHN F. DAVIS, born abt. 1840 “probably, Lincoln, TN”, whose wife was “CHLOE LUTITIA McAFEE (AFN: 1QXZ-099), and that they were married on 01/23/1867 in Lincoln, TN. This source also reflects CHLOE LUTITIA McAFEE had been married previously, to a GEORGE W. WAGGONER, in abt 1858, in Lincoln, TN.

SARAH JANE ASHBY, born in 1805 in ______ = daughter of HALIFAX ASHBY, SR. and SARAH JANE HUDSON. HALIFAX ASHBY lived in Lincoln Co., TN in early 1800s. SARAH JANE ASHBY had 2 children, WILLIAM BROWN and MILLS NELSON JOINER, by prior marriages (other than to Lutita's dad, AZARIAH McAFEE). JANE ASHBY’s husband, AZARIAH McAFEE, served in the War of 1812 under Col. Thomas H. Benton and Col. Pillow.
AZARIAH McAFEE, born 1793, Surry Co., NC, who married JANE ASHBY. AZARIAH moved to N.W. Lincoln Co., TN. There were 10 children in this household (some by JANE’s previous marriages to WILLIAM BROWN (1819) and MILLS NELSON JOINER (1823):

LUTICIA A. (CHLOE), born 1843, married W.G.
WAGGONER, 1858, and also, married to JOHN F.
DAVIS in 1867.
