I've hit a brick wall with researching my family tree and I can't get anywhere past my great-great-grandfather. His name was Harvey M. Alexander and he married Melinda Jane Mainord (or Maynard) in Madison County on December 17, 1869. They and their children lived in Beech Bluff in Madison county. Their children were: Sarah Jane Alexander - b. Dec. 12, 1870 d. July 08, 1938 (married Vinson Ross Gurley) Elizabeth M. Alexander - b. 1872 d. ? Lillie Ellen Alexander - b. 1880 d. 1863 (married John Thomas Grisham or Grissom) William Aldridge Alexander - b. 1882 d. 1920 Delaney Cumi Alexander - b. Oct. 07, 1884 d. Aug. 11, 1910 (married Grover C. Matlock) Harvey Robert Alexander - b. Sep. 09, 1886 d. Feb. 08, 1949 John Vinson Alexander - b. July 14, 1889 d. May 03, 1956 Laura Della Alexander - b. Jan. 27, 1891 d. Oct 20, 1976 (married John Riley Maness) I cannot say for certain, but I believe Harvey M Alexander's father was Hezekiah Julius Alexander, who moved to Madison county from Mecklenburg County, NC. Again, I can't say for certain because I don't think any of Hezekiah's decendants use the internet, at least not for genealogy purposes (I've been trying to find them for years with no luck). My great-grandfather was John Vinson Alexander. He married Katie Francis Karnodle. Their first child was my grandfather, Lee Roy Franklin Alexander. Lee Roy left Tennessee with his brother Truman and moved down to south Florida and ultimately central Florida where they both raised their families. I am hoping beyond hope that somebody out there knows the Alexander family above. I believe a lot of the records of my family were lost back in the Jackson courthouse fire (I hear there was more than one, so take your pick there). One quick question, is Madison County's Archives/Records Center open to the public? Just curious in case I make a trip sometime soon to do some research. I appreciate your time for reading. Thanks, Scott Alexander Lakeland, Polk County, FL USA Notify Administrator about this message?
