Dina, I'm unable to answer your questions regarding your Bennett family but can give you more information about HENRY KILLIAN BENNETT.
Henry K. Bennett was born 7 Oct 1810. However, he lived in Marion Co before moving across the state line to Dade County GA. He and his wife, Mary A. were listed on the 1850 Dade County census with the following children in his household:
Joseph, age 17, TN
Shannon, age 14, TN
Elizabeth, age 12, TN
George W, age 9, TN
James L., age 7, TN
Mary L, age 2, GA
James, age 19, TN
Henry Hughes, 22, AL
On the 1870 Dade Co census the following is listed:
George W., 19
James L., 18
Mary, 14
Martha J., 12
Philby E.., 10f
Rhody J., ff
William, 6
Joseph had married by the 1870 census and had two children.
The son, Alexander Shannon, joined Co. B., 6th Ga Volunteer Infantry. Because of this his father disowned him and after the Civil War, Shannon moved to Arkansas where he remained.
The son, Joseph A., joined Co. F., 34th GA. After his capture at Vicksburg, MS and release, he returned home. He later signed a sworn statement that he was forced into the Confederate Army. However, J.A. was later voted into a public office in Dade Co where he served for several years. The last account of him is ca 1905. Nothing else. J.A. had the most beautiful hand writing in our county records.
I'm not sure about the other children except what I've listed below.
Henry Killian Bennett, as far as I know, was only married one time and that was to Mary A. After he moved into Dade Co about 2 years prior to 1850, he never left.
He filed on the Southern Claims Commission and was only 1 of 4 out of 13 that were filed from Dade County to be approved. I've read the claim and it is very interesting.
Henry Killiam Bennett died 30 Dec 1887. His wife, Mary A., born 2 Oct 1825, died 11 Oct 1909. Both are buried in the Sarah's Chapel Cemetery in Dade County GA.
Dade County's marriage records only go back to 1866. James L. Bennett was married twice... first to Mary A. Morgan on 9 Dec 1873 (Book B, page 120) and then to Mary F. Redding on 23 Sep 1886 (Book B, page 520).
Martha J, married John Hughes, 29 Oct 1873 (Book B, pg 164)
Mary married Edwards S. Wells, 2 Jan 1881 (Book B, pg 323)
Phebe E. married R.L. Killian, 20 Jul 1881 (Book B, pg 344)
There may be other Dade County marriages for them after 1888 that would be in Book C. I only have Book B here at home.
