Beth, I was looking for info on my William D. MADDEN (1815-ca 1870) when I ran into your post. William & wife Martha Elizabeth POGUE MADDEN appear on the 1840 & 1850 Maury CO., TN census. They then migrated to Paducah, McCracken Co., KY. They were my great great grandparents on my mothers side. However I have many lines that lived or passes through Maury CO., TN. on my fathers side. As well as WRIGHT lines that I am trying to connect to my Wrights. All my fathers families, Renfrow, Armstrong, Brown & Wright settled in Lincoln CO., TN. I got the info on Thomas Madden from a book "Century Review of Maury CO., TN 1807-1907". The book I have is reproduced from the original Edition located in the private library of Jill K. Garrett Columbia, TN. There is a listing of churches with only a small amount on Methodists with only the one line on Thomas Madden I posted. Col. Joseph BROWN a minister of the Cumberland Presbyterian Church was my 3 great grandmother, Mary BROWN ARMSTRONG's cousin. He came to the Cumberland Settlement by flottila with his family. Indians killed 2 of his brothers & father. They were one of the first families Middle TN. He lived in Maury but died & buried in Giles CO., TN While there were many Wrights early on in Lincoln CO., TN even before the first census of 1820 I still have no proof who my great great grandfather was, James Wright's father could have been Solomon Wright who was on the 1820 Lincoln CO., TN census by 1850 he must have died. James wife Rebecca Renfrow Wright I believe was related to the Renfro's of Renfro Station & Maury, TN I cannot prove that as well. Rebecca was born in Cumberland CO., NC. Her father James Renfro dies by 1830. Rebecca, brother James and mother Edith___, Gilbert, Renfro, Swindle are in Lincoln CO., TN by 1833. Sorry I do not have any more on Madden wish I did.
