My ancestor John Woodruff was born in Lexington, Kentucky, on 25 December 1790. He married Rhoda "Rhody" Wade (probably the daughter of Dabney Wade) of Maury County, Tennessee. John and his family are listed on the 1830 Maury County census. They moved to Texas in 1831. Sources indicate that John was a Baptist preacher. Are there any Tennessee Baptist Church histories that mention Rev. Woodruff.
In Texas, his step-daughter, Mary (Smith) McCrory, married Anson Jones, last president of the Republic of Texas.
