Body of Message:

I just found this post, I hope it is still active.
I am researching Mathew McGarry (McGarrah) my gggg grandfather. He came to the US circa 1770 from northern Ireland. He came into Philadelphia or nearby port with other Scotch-Irish Presbyterians. They stopped briefly in Bucks County then moved south to the Sheperdstown, VA (WV)
area. He had 5 known children. Robert, Andrew, John, Nancy and Margaret "Polly". Robert left VA and settled in Neshannock, PA in 1803. Andrew marrried Anne Buckles and moved to Sullivan County in 1803. John married Anne Burr and stayed in Jefferson County. Nancy married Anne Burr's brother James and stayed in Jefferson County as well. I am descended from both of them when second cousins John Daniels McGarry and Emma Susan Burr married. Margaret married Thomas White, Jr. and moved to Maury County TN. I have a letter from Margaret and Thomas White, Jr. dated Feb 25, 1821 to her father Mathew and mentions Thomas White, Sr. visiting them (he even wrote a note at the end of the letter).
I would like to see a copy of the inscriptions in the Bible as it is the first I have heard the name of Mathew's wife being Nancy. Matthew died 25 July 1820
