Mary, thank you for this information. It certainly helps with our research. My husband and I have been researching for a number of years and honestly we are just now getting around to this side of his family. We have information that we will gladly share on James's great, great grandfather, Granville Landrum McLin, son of William and Nancy. I have to wonder if Landrum is another name connected to these families. Again, thank you. Please let me know if you would like more on Granville. We know that Granville married Lucinda Black on January 19, 1873, in Collin County, TX. Their son, Charles Monroe McLin, was born May 23, 1876. Charles is James's great-grandfather. James knew him as he did not pass away until 1969. Unfortunately, at the time he was alive, James was not interested in genealogy. Information we have on Lucinda Black is very sketchy. There is information that she was the daughter of Monroe Black, son of Capt John S Black of Grimes Co., TX. There are some things about that theory that we question.
