I have no information on the Jiles Family before 1880. I found them in the Roane Co, TN census.

Roane Co, TN 1880 District 11
Samuel Jiles age 32
Sarah age 34
William age 13
Lydia age 10
Nancy age 8
Laura age 6
Gideon age 2

That is indeed Sarah in the Meigs Co, TN 1900 census. She is the widow of Samuel M Jiles. From what I have found Sarah's maiden name was Renfroe. I have not yet found a marriage for them but I had no idea where to look. My line is Gideon Jiles. He married Hettie Brown. I know that they lived in Meigs Co near the Roane/Meigs Co line. I would be interested in exchanging information. I would love to have the earlier lines.I can tell you that our line has always spelled it Jiles.
