Anyone possibly know which Meigs Co. Allen line my 2nd great grandfather, Josiah Allen, might tie into?
Josiah was born in 1830, possibly in NC. Then resided in Meigs Co., Tennessee for an unknown period of time. Eventually married Naomi (sometimes Naoma or Niama) Renfro (sometimes Rentfro or Renfrow, etc.) in Meigs Co. in Dec. of 1852. (Marriage listed on the TNGenWeb site erroneously as that of “Isaiah” Allen and Naoma Renfro.)
Josiah relocated to Cedar Co., Missouri by 1858, and then went on to reside in Wright Co., MO. Enlisted on the side of the North in the Civil War and died of fever at Rolla or Houston, MO in 1862.
Josiah and Naomi had four daughters: Ritter Amanda (1853), Sarah Elizabeth (1855), Mary Letitia (1858) and Susan Francis (1862).
I have Josiah’s military and pension files, but these give no clue as to his origins.
Any info regarding Josiah’s parents would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
