SALLIE LEE

I would very much appreciate it if someone in Meigs Co. TN would look in the old records at the county and see if you could find " Sallie Lee" She is my 3rd grt grandma. She was b. abt 1793 in SC. ( don't know if Meigs county would have been a part of SC in 1793) My Sallie is supposed to be listed on a Cherokee census or roll or ?? in Meigs Co. Someone told me she is listed. I can't get in touch with the person who said that, and I live in SW Mo and can not come to Meigs Co. It would mean so very much to me to find this information. My Sallie married in 1813 to Aquilla Nail in Roane Co. At a later time, about 1831 they moved to Benton Co. AR. I don't know what was going on in Meigs Co. at that time. Was there an early removal of Cherokees?? Sadly, I do not know who my Sallie's parents were. Wish I did. Someone suggested Sallie may have been an orphaned Cherokee child raised by another family. I have found nothing to prove or disprove this theory. Our family accepts Sallie's ancestry as Cherokee, or at least Indian, and we are proud of it. It just drives me nuts trying to find out the truth, according to records. Something in black and white, I guess.
I have heard my Sallie refused to go on to OK, Indian Territory, after the Cherokee removal of 1838-39. She is supposed to have said she didn't need the white man's wevilly flour to survive. She would stay where she was. Quite the woman.
Anyone who can find this info, I will be forever grateful to you. It means so much to me at my age now. You will be my angel if you are able to unravel this great mystery for me. Thank you very much. Drina
