Joel, I have some on Aaron Cicero Gates parents. Silas Valentine Gates b. March 25, 1846 GA, d. 1876 and Amanda Minerva Banks b. ca1842 or March 1844(1900 Census) GA, d. Nov 22, 1913. 1900 Meigs Co TN Census has her as Manda Gates
b. 3/1844 GA age 56 widow servant. Her father Moses Banks b. 1803 NC and mother Rebecca Jay b. 1814 TN. They lived in Gilmer Co GA 1850-1880 at least. In 1880 Gilmer Co GA Moses Banks is listed with wife Rebecca and daughter Rachael C. age 40 GA, and Amanda Gates 38 married GA NC TN. I can take you back 4 more generations if you are interested: Silas Valentine Gates b. Nov 14, 1814 Buncombe Co NC, 2 wives, 15 children. His father: Silas Valentine Gates b. Sept 14, 1782 VA, wife Mary Fore and 9 children. Hezekiah Gates b. Nov 25, 1757 VA, 2 wives, 4 children and then to Charles Gates b. 1738 VA and wife Elizabeth.
