I found on Ancestry.com a death certificate for Mary Stephens SMITH b- Feb. 26, 1888 Woodbury, Cannon Co. TN. she died March 22, 1957 in Durham, NC. She married William F. SMITH. Her father is Elijah J. STEPHENS, mother is Margaret TALLEY....The informant is Margaret DAVENPORT.
I truely beieve Elijah J. STEPHENS is the son to my Elijah STEPHENS b-1810 TN and he died 1903 in Woodbury, TN. he married Martha WHITLEY....
I'm curious to why Mary went to Durham, NC...
My brick wall is Elijah STEPHENS...it is thought his ancestors come from NC possibly PA before NC....
Does anyone have any info on these STEPHENS and who is Margaret DAVENPORT ?
